Dear NEO family,

Fifty seven of our pastors and spouses will be joining Gloria and me in Branson this weekend for our annual Ministers and Mates Retreat. I have been praying that this would be a wonderful time of renewal for our pastors. Would you join me in this prayer throughout the weekend? Run-away thoughts, sleepless nights and fatigue can become a standard routine in the life of a pastor. The Lord promises us rest. That rest comes as we turn our problems and fears over to Him. Pray that God will bless our pastors and spouses with true rest and renew their strength and passion for their calling. Pray that God will use our speakers, Bob and Carol Broadbooks, and our worship leader, Gary Reynolds as His instruments. Pray for safe travel. Thanks so much for your love for our pastors and allowing them this time away to connect with one another and our loving Father.

The following weekend, March 5 – 7, we will have our long awaited Spiritual Renewal Weekend. In January I sensed great anticipation for this weekend. I am sure the enemy of our souls would like to see the weather issues we had in January stifle the sense of holy discontent among our District family. Let’s commit ourselves to not let that happen. As we draw near to God, he promised to draw near to us ... and his touch brings about life change. For all the details of the weekend schedule, go to www.neonaz.com . If you have not already done so in January, be sure to get your reservations in for the Ladies’ brunch and the Primetimers’ dinner by Monday.

Do you have people in your church you would like to see our nominating committee consider for District office – Advisory Board, Missions and Youth Councils, Sunday School/Discipleship Board, etc. Send me the names and tell me why they should be considered and I will share the information with our Nominating Committee.

Have a blessed weekend! You are loved!

Dear NEO family,

Greetings in the strong name of Jesus. I had the privilege this past week of attending meetings with District Superintendents from across the USA and Canada. The sessions were insightful, challenging and uplifting. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to attend. I purchased a few DVD’s and will be communicating soon about opportunities to view them.

College and Career Retreat: A college and career retreat has been in the works for a long time. We are proud to offer this event for all of the college students and young adults connected to the NEO District. The event takes place on 2/19-21 at Cave Springs Camp Ground in Quapaw, OK.

Spiritual Renewal Weekend with Susie Shellenberger is now scheduled for March 5 – 7, 2010. Let’s keep praying for a mighty move of God in our lives.

NEO Pastors – “I Want To Celebrate. . .”

Dan Hazelton, Pryor…$1790 dollars donated for our Teen House; insurance covering 100% of re-roofing Teen House and now the building has heat; Church being responsive to not being a church just for church people.

Gordon Smith, Dewey… Started our evangelism training – people are being challenged to share their faith with those around them!

Brad Farnsworth, BA Connection… Online giving has increased; held our first webcast on January 31 due to the inclement weather; 31 families signed in and listened to Pastor Brad’s message

Randy Schuneman, Bartlesville… Our Letters from Dad Kickoff went well. We have 28 men who are starting the process tomorrow night!

Jim Wilson, Pawhuska…We have had a few new visitors this month and some old friends back from travels.

Jim Johnson, Barnsdall…The Church of the Nazarene in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, is alive and well! Our attendance is growing and we have re-instituted Wednesday night service. Jan and I have been blessed by our call to the Nazarene Church; there is a sweet spirit and ever-growing presence of the Holy Spirit - Glory to his name!

Cole Weston, Okmulgee… Our volunteers are working hard on the new church office and our teen center; Received a new visitor who has made our church their home. Broken Arrow First is coming to work with us on the teen center.

Alan McBroom, Davenport… We opened our clothes ministry this month in which we were able to help many people get Winter clothes. Out of this ministry, two families visited our church the next Sunday.

Rodney Durr, Muskogee First… being able to pay our apportionments in a timely manner and WEF in full in February, and this on the heels of one of the worst year’s Muskogee First has had in a long, long time. Last year I did not take a housing allowance for 7 months, we failed to pay all budgets in full, and we did not meet our first level goal for our capital stewardship campaign for debt reduction. Finances are still tight, but what an improvement from last year! God is good!

Don Cowan, Sapulpa… The beginning of a new early worship service on Sunday mornings: Averaging almost 100. The fellowship we have at our weekly bowling league. The start of a Men’s basketball team; utilizing our facility for Eagle Point Christian School for their athletic program.

David Stevens, Vinita…The ice storm did not shut off the power this time, at least not in Vinita. We were able to have services but the attendance was effected. Still I have to say these are the best folks I have ever had the pleasure of serving with. Lately we have made contact with several young families. We are reaching out to them for the sake of the gospel and the Church.

Angela Bentley, Bristow… The presence of the Lord in our services and with our people! We are growing daily- spiritually and numerically. This month, after attending for several months, a young mother of some of our Wednesday night children gave her heart to the Lord. Now this entire family; children, mother and grandmother are a regular part of our services and the newest members of our family. God is still saving the lost and growing the saints!
